The Stanley Cup Playoffs begin today and here are my predictions for the first-round of the playoffs.
WESTERN CONFERENCE
DUCKS-SHARKS: While the Anaheim Ducks are currently on a hot streak, they barely made the playoffs. The San Jose Sharks on the other hand, won the Presidents’ Trophy for being the team with the best regular season record in the 2008-09 season. The Sharks’ Evgeni Nabokov has plenty of playoff experience under his belt, and that should make all the difference in the world. Read the rest of this entry »

The most reliable and consistent San Jose Sharks player of the season has been Dan Boyle, who started the season as “Danny” but somehow lost a couple of letters along the way, due in large part to Sharks television commentators Drew Remenda and Randy Hahn.
Boyle, with 41 assists this year, broke the Sharks franchise record for most assists by a defenseman, which was previously held by Sandis Ozolinsh during the 1993 to 1994 season. He is currently fourth in the league in points held by a defenseman.
To me, those stats translate as doing your job and making up for someone else who isn’t on the ice, and we should all realize how much recognition should be deserved for doing that. Read the rest of this entry »

It may have taken San Jose nearly 48 minutes to get on the scoreboard, but Devin Setoguchi’s blast from nearly 60 feet away from Dallas’ net was all the Sharks needed to shine past the Stars on Monday night at the American Airlines Center.
That, and of course, Evgeni Nabokov’s 29-save shutout helped steer the Sharks to a 1-0 victory. Read the rest of this entry »

San Jose’s 5-2 slaughtering of the Boston Bruins at TD Banknorth Garden was by far its most impressive win of the season.
Well, kinda.

Tuesday night, the Western Conference-leading San Jose Sharks will attempt to get back to their winning ways against the NHL and Eastern Conference-leading Boston Bruins on the road in a nationally-televised game.
Some are calling it a potential preview of the Stanley Cup Finals, but it’s a long way to June and numerous things can go wrong for both teams.
