The Utah State Aggies are on their way to the NCAA Tournament after a convincing victory, 72-62, over the Nevada Wolf Pack in the WAC Tournament championship game.

A telling moment happened with 3:35 to play, and the Aggies ahead, 64-47. WAC Player of the Year and tournament MVP Gary Wilkinson had Wolf Pack defenders all over him, making rabid attempts at steals that should have been fouls, and he managed to bump, absorb bumps and then sneak a layup into the basket. Women’s WAC Basketball Tournament: Utah State (5) beats Idaho (4) in a nailbiter

Utah State vs. Idaho: Another tough, defensive, hard-fought game that came down to the wire and was tainted by referees who were scared to call a foul in the final moments of a game.
The same thing happened Tuesday night in the Fresno State/Hawaii men’s game. I hope it’s not going to be the theme of the WAC Tournament.
So anyways, Utah State won 59-58 in overtime on Wednesday and advanced to the semifinals to play the winner of the Fresno State/Hawaii game. Read the rest of this entry »
